Search page help

On this page, you can search for Hospital Cover only, Extras Cover only, or a combined Hospital and Extras cover by completing the corresponding sections (Hospital Cover in the left column, Extras Cover in the right column).

Getting past first base

The search methodology is basically identical for both Hospital and Extras Cover columns. Firstly, you have the option of:

What's the difference between Private Hospital Cover and Basic Hospital Cover?

In the Hospital Cover section, you'll be asked to choose your level of hospital cover. Private Hospital Cover specifically targets policies that cover you for treatment in a private hospital, while Basic Hospital Cover excludes the most expensive private hospital policies and extends to include private patient treatment in a public hospital. Basic hospital cover is the minimum cover needed for exemption from the Medicare Levy Surcharge, and policies that cover you for public hospitals only will always be indicated in the results table. Once you have selected one of these two options, you can choose to tick the features below or simply click 'Show my health cover options' to see a search result.

How do I know what features to tick?

If you want more information on hospital or extras features, hover your mouse over the feature name or the blue 'i' (information) button and a pop up will appear to provide more information. Tick those features you think would benefit you, keeping in mind that some important features come with 12 month waiting periods, so it might be wise to get cover for things you think you might need in future.

How do retrieve my results?

After making your selections in one or both columns, click on the 'Show my health cover options' button at the bottom of the page to see your search results.
