Bone Density Screening

Many Australians suffer from injury and disabiliy caused by osteoporosis.

A screening program for people aged 70 and over has been funded by the Australian government and provides free DEXA scans. However this may not be enough to pick up early onset osteoporosis, particularly in women.

You should discuss with your GP you risk of osteoporosis and if it is required, Australian Unity will give you a 70% benefit of up to $70 on the cost of a DEXA scan.

To claim, send a copy of the receipt for your DEXA scan with a completed claim form to Australian Unity.

• 70% benefit on the cost of a DEXA scan up to a maximum of $70, where no Medicare rebate is payable.
• Benefit payable once every 5 years
• No lifetime cap
