An import component of the HCF Healthy Weight for Life Type 2 Diabetes Pilot Program is KicStart™. This low calorie meal replacement contains lactose, ingredients from milk, fish products, cereals containing gluten and soy products. It also may contain traces of egg, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame or crustaceans. People with allergies or are intolerant to these ingredients should not participate in this program.
KicStart™ may also be unsuitable for pregnant, nursing or lactating women, or by infants, children, adolescents or the elderly.
It is advisable that you be monitored by you GP during this weight loss program if you have gout, gall bladder, heart, kidney, or liver problems. It is particularly important that your doctor monitors your medication carefully while you are on this program if you are being treated for diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol, or if you are on lithium therapy.
In the early stages of weight loss, you doctor may need to carefully monitor your existing medical conditions and reduce the dose of some medications or stop them entirely. Do not stop medications without your doctor's approval.
With weight loss resulting from calorie or kilojoule restriction and exercise, you may experience substantial improvements in your blood glucose control, blood pressure or cholesterol. Please consult your GP, diabetes specialist or Accredited Practising Dietician for specific advice on how best to manage your diabetes.
