In addition to providing financial support for health services, Peoplecare has also introduced new programs that deliver different health care options for members to allow them the choice of being treated in their own home rather than in hospital.

The key to Peoplecare’s ongoing success is to make it easy for members and to lead the health insurance industry in the provision of exceptional customer service and satisfaction. A culturally aligned staff and a full digital work environment provide the capacity to deliver exceptional service standards.
A comprehensive industry survey conducted by IPSOS in 2009 highlighted Peoplecare’s performance with the highest customer service rating by a long way. IPSOS says:

A rich history spanning almost 60 years sets the framework for Peoplecare as a Not For Profit mutual and customer service focused company. From 1953 the company served the employees of John Lysaght Australia Limited and BHP and many other subsidiary and affiliated companies.
Today, Peoplecare is a community based health insurance fund with the same driving spirit and direction of exceptional member service and commitment to inspire them each day. Peoplecare looks to the future with optimism, with the purpose continuing to focus on caring for members in the best possible way when they need health care.
The company is governed by a Board of Directors including those elected from and by the membership, plus a number of appointed directors to ensure that the Board has appropriate skills and experience to effectively manage the company in a risky and complex industry.
Peoplecare has grown today to more than 20,000 contributors, covering over 46,000 Australians and also provides health insurance cover to over 185,000 international students studying in Australia. Peoplecare also provide full health fund management services for another small health fund.
