Depending on where you’re at in life there are features that you’ll want from your health insurance, and ones that you won’t – for example not many 22 year olds need hip replacements. Our covers are affordable because we’ve carefully chosen what’s included and excluded for each.
When it comes to hospital cover you’ll know exactly which procedures you’re covered for (like tonsils, knee surgery) and those you aren’t covered for (like obesity surgery, cosmetic surgery). And of course, accommodation and theatre expenses are paid for any hospital procedure included in your health insurance. We can’t be more upfront than that!

Extras are everyday services that you may use to stay healthy. This includes going to the dentist, physio, chiro or even a new pair of glasses. Most of these services are not covered by Medicare.
With nib you get 50%, 65% or 75% of the cost back on Extras like dental and optical every time you claim (until you reach your annual limit). How much you’ll get back depends on the health insurance you choose. So it doesn’t matter how much your dentist, chiro or physio charges, you’ll get 50%, 65% or 75% of the cost back.
For example, on Top Cover if your dentist charges $140 for a scale and clean you’ll get $105 back from nib. That’s 75% of the cost back to you. It’s that simple.
