Families are being urged to shop around for their health insurance after the Federal Government gave insurers the nod to increase premiums by an inflation-busting five per cent.
The rise will cost the typical family about $100 a year in extra fees, but a specialist price-comparison website for health policies could help families save a large part of that increase by finding the best cover for their circumstances.
The site, www.moneytime.com.au, allows you to browse through a range of policies from major insurers, pick the features that you want, then compare prices.
“Before simply renewing your existing policy you should certainly spend a few minutes on the site to see if you can beat their quote,” a spokesman said.
