The Federal Government's changes to Medicare levy surcharge have passed the Senate.
The Government agreed with Independent Senator Nick Xenophon and the Greens to amend the bill to ensure it was passed. It means single people can earn up to $70,000 and couples up to $140,000 per year, before they have to pay the Medicare levy surcharge.
The bill will go back to the House of Representatives for final approval before being sent to the Governor-General for approval.
Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull says the changes are still bad policy.
