MIDDLE-CLASS Australia is nervously awaiting the budget, counting down to what could be a swingeing cut in tax breaks if market rumours can be taken as a guide.
Top of the rumour tree is that the federal Government is about to remove the private health insurance rebate, in total or for high-income earners, plus a sharp cut in the tax breaks on transition to retirement pensions and a cap on how much can be contributed tax-free into super.
