Australian Unity
History
Our history began nearly 170 years ago when Manchester Unity (MU) friendly society (Vic) was founded in 1840. Friendly societies were formed to provide financial support and services to members undergoing hardship in a time when there was no government social welfare.
In 1993 MU merged with the Australian Natives’ Association to become Australian Unity, and ever since we’ve been developing to meet the changing needs of our members.
Our operations now employ some 1,200 people across Australia caring for more than 190,000 members in a range of areas including Health, Retirement Living and Financial Services. But our commitment remains unchanged to enhance the wellbeing of our members.
